What is Birch and Bears misson?
Sisters and founders of Birch and Bear, Kim and Donna, are collectors and makers of beautiful things. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, the small Birch and Bear team work together, paying homage to a wide range of skills to develop original designs that are sure to delight our Brighton cliental.
Having a love for natural materials, Kim and Donna are very passionate about recycling and aim to repurpose objects and materials to create something new and unique. Drawing inspiration form traditional Waldorf Steiner dolls and educational philosophies found in the Brighton area, Birch and Bear incorporate felting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidery and woodwork to offer a wide range of bespoke and beautifully hand crafted children’s toys.
We appreciate that each child learns differently, and understand the value and opportunity that unstructured play has for children of all ages. Through our range of toys, we encourage children to explore their natural curiosity and to investigate and engage with the world around them.
In today’s ever-reliant technological world, we want to encourage more green time and less screen time, which we have found resonates with a lot of our Brighton customers.
